Product Information

remanufactured cartridges are OEM cartridges that have been re-assembled, not just refilled. Here are some of the procedures used:
  • Inbound cartridges are tested
  • Cartridges are completely disassembled, cleaned and inspected
  • Cartridges are completely rebuilt with new moving parts
  • Doctor Blades, Cleaning Blade and Magnetic Rollers are inspected and replaced or recalibrated during each cycle
  • Corona Wires and Primary Change Rollers are chemically treated and ultrasonically cleaned or replaced
  • Toner hoppers are cleaned, inspected and refilled with high quality, high density graphics toner
  • Cartridges utilize high quality OEM-type seals (split hopper system for HP®4 and others) to prevent leakage during shipment. All cartridges are then assembled in an ISO certified environment
  • Cartridges are thoroughly inspected to guarantee manufacturing integrity
  • New fuser wands are included with all appropriate cartridges
  • Outbound cartridges are rigorously post tested prior to shipment
  • Cartridges are sealed in protective anti-static bags
  • Cartridges are shipped with instructions and guarantees
  • Waste generated from the manufacturing process is diverted to recycling centers: toner, cardboard, plastic and metal components.
The only major difference between a new cartridge and remanufactured cartridge is the price.

Compatible cartridges are exactly like the new OEM cartridges but are not made by the company that manufactured the printer. This is similar to after market/3rd party parts for cars or any other products. The main advantage of using a compatible toner cartridge is the price. Printer manufacturers often use the razor and blades business model. That is, a company may sell a printer at cost or below, and try to make a profit on the laser toner cartridge. This is why printer prices have become so inexpensive because the printer companies make a major profit on the consumable cartridges. A company making compatible toner cartridges doesn't need to worry about recouping any money lost on the printer. Thus compatible toner cartridges can be made for much less and have the same or better quality than the OEM's cartridge. Also using compatible or remanufactured toner cartridges doesn't void your printer's warranty.

Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, or MICR, colloquially pronounced my'-kur, is a special kind of optical character recognition (OCR) technology that was adopted mainly by the U.S. banking industry to facilitate the processing of cheques. MICR printing cartridges are usually magnetised toner and can be used to print your own cheques or for a variety of OCR uses. It is not possible to print MICR characters using a standard inkjet printer as the magnetised materials settle to the bottom of the cartridge.

An original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is a company that builds products or components that are used in products sold by another company. In this case it is the company that manufactured your printer.

Inside of some toner cartridges there is a chip that will warn the printer that the cartridge is running out of toner. Some remanufactured and compatible cartridges don't have this chip to save on production costs thus making the cartridge less expensive. The cartridges without a chip will start to print lighter and lighter (fade) as the toner starts to run out. The printer will not warn you like in cartridges that have the chip.
